Review for 2009.VSUES Library is successfully developing and implementing modern technologies. «Dolphin» - is automated library system which serves as a basis for library work and its branches. This program is gradually developing in correspondence with demand and needs of the Library and University. This product is a result of creation the one in Russia closed automated technological chain which makes every stage of document work and library process obvious. System’s statistic analysis of all operations provides any kind of information: location of book, readers of the book, urgency and necessity of any part of the fund and of resource as a whole. Now automatic system registers all readers who attend library (it is possible now to see any person who take any book or resource you are interested at). Assignment of resources is provided with cards which are for students and teachers not only cards with bar-coding but also pass to University or campus. It serves as unified system for registration with unified database for the University. Collection of the documents in the Library Fund achieved 936 596 units on the date January 1st, 2010 (this collection include all kinds of documents – paper, CD-ROM's, e-databases). Besides that University enrich its resources with a help of leading world full text database providers in different languages: Russian, English and Chinese. During 2009 readers of Library got access to more than 1.5 000 000 documents including E-recourses. The quantity of registered people achieved 27 202 in 2009. All branches of library provided service for more than 100 000 (not only students, but also post-graduates, scientists of other universities, teachers and scholars of Vladivostok schools, etc.) Our Library is available to everybody. Such variety of recourses is a result of integration of the Library to International and Russian library association. Our Library is a member of NEICON and ARBICON. In September 2004 Library was an initiator of creation TRICON which combined 12 large libraries of Far Eastern region: Kamchatka, Khabarovsk, Blagoveschensk, Ussuriysk and Vladivostok. Work of consortium is coordinated by the Head of VSUES Library: http://lib.vvsu.ru/tricon/ Partners of the Library are the largest Russian and foreign companies such as «CKB BIBCOM» Moscow; publishing house «Infra-M», publishing house «KnoRus», CONEC, EBSCO, EMERALD, NEB, etc.. Members of the library are participating in different regional and international conferences. This year Library will hold annual conference for the 6th time. Now this conference is very popular in the region, this time announced theme is “Innovation Technologies in Information support of Education, Science and Culture”. Participants of the conference will come from Libraries of Far East, USA, Canada and European countries. During academic year University makes advertisement programs for its resources, teach staff how to seek and analyze information (Days of Institutes, Specialists, Post-Graduates, First-year Students and Graduates, etc.). For different groups of users there is special course – informational competence of specialist. This course is included into curriculum. While academic year students will have this program and after receive certificate.
Regularly University check users of the Library what they know about its resources, if they are satisfied or
not by quality. It resulted in modernization of Library Internet page in 2009.
